When it comes to small-town, oceanfront living, Jupiter Island Colony on the southern tip of Jupiter Island is where to be. This small hamlet is a town unto itself, placing you close to all the amenities of greater Jupiter Island and Palm Beach to the south while keeping day-to-day life intimate and charming.

Neighbors so dear they feel like family meet and mingle at the Jupiter Inlet Beach Club, a private, members-only club at the mouth of the Jupiter Inlet. With breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, Jupiter Inlet, and the Jupiter Lighthouse, the beach club and recreation center has long provided a social outlet for the area residents.

For shopping, the upscale Harbourside Place is just across Jupiter Inlet. There’s a classic, coastal vibe making a shopping trip feel like a fun outing. The complex offers mouthwatering restaurants, more than a dozen national and specialty stores, a highly rated hotel, and live entertainment at the waterfront amphitheater. Other convenient shopping areas include Jupiter Square and The Shoppes at Jupiter.

 

While the shopping centers themselves boast numerous dine-out options, sometimes it’s a local atmosphere one seeks for a night out. Jupiter Inlet Colony residents gravitate to the Beach Club on the island, as well as several eateries just across Cato’s Bridge. Jupiter’s Lighthouse Diner is a favorite for upscale comfort food, 1000 North offers Modern American fair in a sophisticated waterfront setting, Blackbird Modern Asian for pan Asian cuisine with a modern twist,  and Crosby Kitchen & Bar serves American-style bistro marrying traditional and creative ingredients, alongside a full selection of wine, craft beer, and hand-mixed cocktails. Craving fresh seafood while on the go? Head to The Tacklebox in Jupiter Inlet Village for chef-inspired, takeout showcasing the freshest-caught fish from local waters, complemented by sides of seasonal veggies and various sauces.

 

When your neighborhood is surrounded by water, one can’t help but be drawn to watersports. Cato’s Bridge, spanning the Intracoastal Waterway to connect Jupiter Inlet Colony to Jupiter, is the place to start for great snorkeling. The bridge is near a white-sand beach, the Jupiter Lighthouse, and within one of the state’s most outstanding natural areas. The area along the west side of the Intracoastal and south of the Jupiter Inlet Bridge is the best for snorkeling and its waters stay crystal clear all day. Thanks to the biologically diverse environment and deep drop-off, snorkelers have the opportunity to see the occasional manatee or porpoise.

Residents who love to fish know that some of the best snook fishing around is found off the docks of the homes that line Jupiter Inlet. Many of these homes also look across the inlet to pretty DuBois Park, another favorite outdoor hangout for local families. From here, there are fantastic Jupiter Lighthouse views. It’s also a perfect starting point for canoe and kayak adventures on the Loxahatchee River, one of the only two national Wild & Scenic Rivers in Florida.
